Ryzen 7 1700X vs Ryzen 7 5700X3D specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D beats the Ryzen 7 1700X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 1700X in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5700X3D has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 1700X. Also, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 1700X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 7 5700X3D also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
