Ryzen 7 1700X vs Core i5-1245U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-1245U beats the Ryzen 7 1700X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 1700X in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-1245U has slightly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 1700X has 8 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 1700X has more threads than the Core i5-1245U. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700X has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1245U. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1245U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 1700X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 1700X has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-1245U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
