Ryzen 7 1700 vs Core i7-14700F benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-14700F performs better than the Ryzen 7 1700. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 1700 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-14700F has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 7 1700. Indeed, the Core i7-14700F has 20 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen 7 1700. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 1700. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 1700 has a much higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-14700F. Despite this, the Core i7-14700F has a significantly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-14700F has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 1700. The Core i7-14700F also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
