Ryzen 7 1700 vs Core i5-12500T benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-12500T beats the Ryzen 7 1700 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 1700 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 7 1700 has slightly more cores than the Core i5-12500T. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700 has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-12500T. It also has more threads than the Core i5-12500T. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 1700 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12500T. Despite this, the Core i5-12500T has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-12500T outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 1700 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-12500T has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 1700. The Core i5-12500T also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
