Ryzen 7 1700 vs Core i3-10300 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 1700 is faster than the Core i3-10300. Despite this, the Core i3-10300 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 1700 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i3-10300 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-10300. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-10300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 1700. Also, the Core i3-10300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i3-10300. The Ryzen 7 1700 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
