Ryzen 5 8500G vs Ryzen 7 5700 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 5700 beats the Ryzen 5 8500G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 8500G in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 5700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 8500G that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 8500G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 8500G. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 8500G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 8500G has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 5700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 8500G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
