Ryzen 5 5600X vs Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 5600X performs better than the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 5600X that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 5600X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 5600X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X. Also, the Ryzen 5 5600X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 5600X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 5600X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 5600X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
