Ryzen 5 5600U vs Core i7-9700KF comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700KF beats the Ryzen 5 5600U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 5600U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-9700KF has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 5600U that has 6 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 5600U has more threads than the Core i7-9700KF. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700KF has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 5600U. Also, the Core i7-9700KF has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 5600U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-9700KF CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700KF. The Ryzen 5 5600U also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
