Ryzen 5 5600U vs Core i7-1265U comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-1265U beats the Ryzen 5 5600U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 5600U in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-1265U has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 5600U has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 5600U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1265U. Despite this, the Core i7-1265U has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-1265U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 5600U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 5600U has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-1265U.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
