Ryzen 5 5600H vs Core i9-9880H specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 5600H performs better than the Core i9-9880H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-9880H in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-9880H has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 5600H that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 5600H. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 5600H has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 5600H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i9-9880H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
