Ryzen 5 5600G vs Ryzen 9 6900HX benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 6900HX beats the Ryzen 5 5600G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 5600G in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 9 6900HX has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 5600G has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 5600G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 5600G has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 6900HX. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 6900HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 6900HX outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 5600G thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 6900HX has slightly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 5600G. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
