Ryzen 5 5600G vs Core i9-9900 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-9900 performs better than the Ryzen 5 5600G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 5600G in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i9-9900 has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 5 5600G. Indeed, the Core i9-9900 has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 5600G. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 5600G. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 5600G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-9900. Despite this, the Core i9-9900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 5600G has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i9-9900. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
