Ryzen 5 5600 vs Ryzen 7 7700 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 7700 performs better than the Ryzen 5 5600. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 5600 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 7 7700 has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 5 5600. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 7700 has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 5600. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 5600. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 7700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 5600. Also, the Ryzen 7 7700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 7700 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 5600. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
