Ryzen 5 5500U vs Core i3-1215U comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 5500U is faster than the Core i3-1215U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-1215U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 5 5500U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 5500U has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-1215U. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i3-1215U has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 5500U. The Core i3-1215U also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5500U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
