Ryzen 5 4600U vs Core i7-7700K benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 4600U performs better than the Core i7-7700K. Despite this, the Core i7-7700K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 5 4600U has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-7700K has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-7700K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-7700K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 4600U. Also, the Core i7-7700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 4600U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-7700K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4600U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700K. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4600U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
