Ryzen 5 4600H vs Core i9-9880H benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i9-9880H is faster than the Ryzen 5 4600H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 4600H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-9880H has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 4600H that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4600H. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 4600H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-9880H. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4600H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 4600H.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4600H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
