Ryzen 5 4500U vs Xeon E3-1245 v5 specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 4500U performs better than the Xeon E3-1245 v5. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1245 v5 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Xeon E3-1245 v5 that has 4 cores. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1245 v5 has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4500U. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1245 v5 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 4500U. A Ryzen 5 4500U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1245 v5 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E3-1245 v5. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 4500U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
