Ryzen 5 4500U vs Core i7-9700 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700 beats the Ryzen 5 4500U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 4500U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-9700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 4500U that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4500U. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 4500U. A Ryzen 5 4500U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-9700 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 4500U.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 5 4500U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
