Ryzen 5 4500U vs Core i7-6700 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 4500U beats the Core i7-6700 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-6700 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more cores than the Core i7-6700. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4500U has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i7-6700. Despite this, the Core i7-6700 has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4500U. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-6700 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 5 4500U. A Ryzen 5 4500U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-6700 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-6700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 5 4500U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
