Ryzen 5 4500U vs Core i7-1255U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-1255U performs better than the Ryzen 5 4500U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 4500U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-1255U has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 4500U has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4500U. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 4500U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1255U. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-1255U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 4500U. The Core i7-1255U also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 4500U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
