Ryzen 5 3600XT vs Ryzen 7 1700 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 3600XT beats the Ryzen 7 1700 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 1700 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 1700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 3600XT that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3600XT. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600XT has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 1700. Also, the Ryzen 5 3600XT has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 7 1700 outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 3600XT thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 1700 has slightly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3600XT. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3600XT has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 1700.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600XT has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
