Ryzen 5 3600XT vs Ryzen 5 5500 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 5500 performs better than the Ryzen 5 3600XT. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3600XT in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3600XT has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 5500. Also, the Ryzen 5 3600XT has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 5500 outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 3600XT thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Ryzen 5 3600XT also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600XT has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
