Ryzen 5 3600X vs Ryzen 9 5950X comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 5950X performs better than the Ryzen 5 3600X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3600X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 5950X has significantly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 3600X that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3600X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 5950X. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 5950X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3600X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 5950X CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 9 5950X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 3600X. The Ryzen 9 5950X also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
