Ryzen 5 3600X vs Ryzen 7 2700X benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 2700X performs better than the Ryzen 5 3600X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3600X in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 7 2700X has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 5 3600X. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 2700X has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 3600X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3600X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 2700X. Also, the Ryzen 5 3600X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3600X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 2700X CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 7 2700X has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3600X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3600X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 2700X.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
