Ryzen 5 3600X vs Core i5-8500 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 3600X performs better than the Core i5-8500. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8500 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 5 3600X has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8500. Also, the Ryzen 5 3600X has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-8500 outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 3600X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 3600X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-8500. The Ryzen 5 3600X also has significantly more L3 cache.
