Ryzen 5 3600 vs Ryzen 7 3800X comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 3800X is faster than the Ryzen 5 3600. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3600 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 3800X has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 3600 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3600. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 3600. Also, the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3600 CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 3800X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has slightly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3600. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
