Ryzen 5 3600 vs FX-8120 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 3600 beats the FX-8120 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-8120 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 5 3600 has significantly more cores than the FX-8120. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the FX-8120. It also has more threads than the FX-8120. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the FX-8120. Also, the Ryzen 5 3600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3600 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8120 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8120 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 3600. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3600 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the FX-8120.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
