Ryzen 5 3600 vs Core i5-1235U benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 3600 beats the Core i5-1235U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-1235U in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1235U has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 3600. Indeed, the Core i5-1235U has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 3600. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3600 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. Despite this, the Core i5-1235U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-1235U outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 3600 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 3600 has more L2 cache than the Core i5-1235U. The Ryzen 5 3600 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
