Ryzen 5 3550H vs Xeon E5-1620 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 3550H beats the Xeon E5-1620 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-1620 in all gaming tests too.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-1620 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 3550H. Also, the Xeon E5-1620 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3550H CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-1620 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3550H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
