Ryzen 5 3550H vs Core i5-6600K benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 3550H beats the Core i5-6600K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 5 3550H has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-6600K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 3550H. Also, the Core i5-6600K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3550H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-6600K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 3550H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-6600K. Despite this, the Core i5-6600K has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 3550H.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3550H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
