Ryzen 5 3500X vs Ryzen Threadripper 1920X specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X is faster than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500X in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 3500X has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500X. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3500X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Despite this, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3500X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen Threadripper 1920X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3500X. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
