Ryzen 5 3500X vs Ryzen 9 7900X benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 7900X beats the Ryzen 5 3500X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500X in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 9 7900X has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 7900X has 12 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 3500X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 7900X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Also, the Ryzen 9 7900X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3500X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 7900X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 7900X has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3500X. The Ryzen 9 7900X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
