Ryzen 5 3500X vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D beats the Ryzen 5 3500X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500X in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 3500X has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500X. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3500X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3500X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3500X. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
