Ryzen 5 3500X vs Core i7-9700F comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9700F is faster than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500X in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-9700F has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Indeed, the Core i7-9700F has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 3500X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3500X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9700F. Despite this, the Core i7-9700F has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 3500X has more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700F. The Ryzen 5 3500X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
