Ryzen 5 3500X vs Core i7-11700F benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-11700F beats the Ryzen 5 3500X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-11700F has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 3500X that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3500X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-11700F. Despite this, the Core i7-11700F has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-11700F has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3500X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-11700F.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
