Ryzen 5 3500X vs Core i5-8350U specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 3500X is faster than the Core i5-8350U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8350U in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 3500X has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-8350U that has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i5-8350U has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3500X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8350U. Also, the Ryzen 5 3500X has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-8350U outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 3500X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 3500X has more L2 cache than the Core i5-8350U. The Ryzen 5 3500X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
