Ryzen 5 3500X vs Core i5-12490F benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-12490F is faster than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i5-12490F has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3500X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12490F. Despite this, the Core i5-12490F has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-12490F has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 3500X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3500X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-12490F.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
