Ryzen 5 3500X vs Core i5-10500 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-10500 performs better than the Ryzen 5 3500X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i5-10500 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3500X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-10500. Despite this, the Core i5-10500 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3500X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-10500. The Ryzen 5 3500X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
