Ryzen 5 3500 vs Ryzen 9 9900X3D benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 9900X3D performs better than the Ryzen 5 3500. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3500 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 3500. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has 12 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 3500. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 5 3500. Also, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3500 CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 9900X3D CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3500. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
