Ryzen 5 3500 vs Core i5-13420H comparison

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-13420H has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 3500 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 3500. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 3500 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-13420H. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-13420H has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 3500. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3500 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-13420H.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
