Ryzen 5 3400G vs Core i7-7700K benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-7700K performs better than the Ryzen 5 3400G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3400G in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-7700K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 5 3400G. Also, the Core i7-7700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 3400G CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-7700K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 3400G has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-7700K. Despite this, the Core i7-7700K has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 3400G.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3400G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
