Ryzen 5 3400G vs Core i7-7700 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 3400G is faster than the Core i7-7700. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-7700 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3400G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-7700. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3400G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700. Despite this, the Core i7-7700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 3400G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3400G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
