Ryzen 5 3350G vs Core i5-8500 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8500 beats the Ryzen 5 3350G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3350G in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8500 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 3350G has 4 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3350G has more threads than the Core i5-8500. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3350G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8500. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3350G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
