Ryzen 5 2600X vs Core i7-9850H comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9850H beats the Ryzen 5 2600X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 2600X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 2600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9850H. Despite this, the Core i7-9850H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-9850H outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 2600X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 2600X has more L2 cache than the Core i7-9850H. The Ryzen 5 2600X also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2600X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
