Ryzen 5 2600 vs Xeon E5-2695 v2 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2695 v2 beats the Ryzen 5 2600 in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 2600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2695 v2 has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 2600 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 2600. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 2600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2695 v2. Also, the Ryzen 5 2600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 2600 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2695 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
