Ryzen 5 2500U vs Core i3-8100T benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 2500U beats the Core i3-8100T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-8100T in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 5 2500U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-8100T has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 2500U. A Ryzen 5 2500U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i3-8100T CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 2500U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i3-8100T. Despite this, the Core i3-8100T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 2500U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2500U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
