Ryzen 5 2400G vs Core i5-6600K specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 2400G beats the Core i5-6600K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 5 2400G has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6600K. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 2400G CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-6600K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-6600K. Despite this, the Core i5-6600K has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 2400G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
