Ryzen 5 2400G vs Core i5-6500 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 2400G beats the Core i5-6500 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-6500 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 5 2400G has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 2400G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6500. Also, the Ryzen 5 2400G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 2400G has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-6500. Despite this, the Core i5-6500 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 2400G.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
