In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 1600X. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Ryzen 5 1600X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 1600X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 1600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 1600X has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E5-2666 v3. Despite this, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 1600X.

This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1600X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
