Ryzen 5 1600X vs Core i5-7600K benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 1600X beats the Core i5-7600K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7600K in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 5 1600X has significantly more cores than the Core i5-7600K. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1600X has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i5-7600K. It also has more threads than the Core i5-7600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-7600K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 1600X. The Core i5-7600K outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 1600X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 1600X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-7600K. The Ryzen 5 1600X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1600X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
